Turnstile (40 KB) After lunch we looked around the Pub a little and admired a turnstile on one of England’s many walking paths.

There were sheep grazing at the foot of the Downs northeast of the village.

My husband and I waited patiently at 2 pm for the bus that was supposed to pick people up in front of The Honest Miller and take them back to Ashford. The temperature was about 39 degrees Fahrenheit and the winds were 15-20 mph, so it wasn’t all that pleasant. After about 10 minutes the bartender came out and told us that he and the other couple eating there now thought the bus came on Thursdays and not Fridays, and he wondered if we would like him to call us a cab to return to Ashford. Naturally, we thought that was an excellent idea and in 15 minutes were bidding farewell to Brook and trying to explain to a very amused cabbie how two Americans came to be stranded in Brook, County Kent, on a Friday afternoon.
